Days Out Fishing Charters Bay of Islands & NZ Fishing News NZ Hutchwilco Boat Show 2018 Competit
Well we finally got to deliver our prize of a fishing adventure aboard Days Out to the winner of the NZ Fishing News NZ Hutchwilco Boat Show 2018 competition winner Kaleb Kirkby. Kaleb won the NZ Fishing News photo competition and was lucky enough to win the prize of a private fishing charter in the Bay of Islands on board Days Out Fishing Charters chasing big fish. He bought his partner Amber with him along with the Dream Team Grant & Miah Dixon (from NZ Fishing News). There was unbelievably a break in the weather on the 2nd December for our trip with a departure time of 6.30 am sharp after grabbing a coffee at our local the team were ready for anything! We started off by getting the live baits just in case the fish were not keen on the soft-baits! Then off to one of my favorite spots with a lot of sign mid water it wasn't long before all the soft bait rods were bent over with screaming reels and every drift was producing some great snapper. Not quite twenty pound but very close with the honors going to grant with a fish of around 18 pound, although both Kaleb and Amber achieved their pbs on snapper. Eventually with the bin looking very respectable the call was made to give our arms a break and head in to process all the fish.
